BPC NW 7.5 Application Architecture - Highlevel Overview

  • Application Set: It's a logical folder which groups all building blocks of BPC
  • Dimensions: Master data tables. They are created at application set level and can be shared across applications. There are multiple dimension types and dimensions have properties and members
  • Applications: They are equivalent to an Info Cube for storing transaction data; BPC Info Cubes support only one KPI (Key Performance Indicator)
    • Different dimensions can be assigned to an application
    • Work status can be defined at the app level
    • Journals, Business Rules and Script Logic are created at the app level as well
    • Reports/Input Schedules are at app level
  • Work Status: They are defined at two levels (App Set and App). Useful in restricting access to the data region depending upon the status
  • Security: Four major components available: Users, Teams, Task Profiles(controls the activities that can be performed) and Member Access Profiles (controls the data region access)
  • Business Process Flow: This is a feature introduced in NW 7.5. Useful in process coordination
  • Data Manager: For managing data import and export
  • Live Reports: Useful in creating reports in a web pages with drag and drop features
  • Contents Library: For posting documents, reports etc.
